ST JOHN’S CHURCH is a valued historic landmark serving the
village of Hoveton and the wider Broads community. The church
sought an improved heating solution that would provide effective
warmth for the congregation while avoiding unnecessary energy use
and visual intrusion.
Scope of works
• Careful positioning of heaters to maximise comfort while
minimising impact on historic fabric
• Testing and commissioning to ensure safe, efficient operation
Outcome
• Disconnection and removal of existing under-pew heaters that
were no longer performing to the congregation’s expectations
• Installation of 6no 2kW BN-Thermic shortwave infrared heaters,
complete with magic lamps, within the nave
The new infrared heating system has transformed comfort levels
within the nave, delivering instant, targeted warmth that is well suited
to intermittent church use. By removing ineffective legacy heaters and
replacing them with modern shortwave infra-red technology, St John’s
Church now benefits from improved thermal comfort, reduced warm
up times and lower energy consumption
